In Loving Memory of Margaret Dietz Mattie

"Peggy" Mattie, age 76, of Cumming, GA, passed away following an extended illness on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Peggy was a native of Bridgeport, CT but lived in many places throughout the country. She moved to the Cumming area in 1979 and made this community her permanent home. Peggy and her husband Bill were long time owners of Bill's Bar-B-Que which was located on Hwy. 9 in Cumming. Peggy was an animal lover, an avid reader and Judge Judy's biggest fan.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children; daughter, Terry Patrick, son and daughter-in-law, William & Kenya Mattie, and son, Richard Mattie; her grandchildren; Destiny Patrick, Whitney Patrick & fiance' Todd Lewis, William "Chase" & Kala Mattie, Mallory Mattie, McKenzie Mattie, Derek Mattie & fiance' Kelly Vincent, Dylan & Ashley Mattie, and her beloved great-grandchildren; Wesley & Mason Lewis, Ashlyn & Jadyn Mattie, and Charlie Anne Cater, her long time friends; David & Suzanne Bennett, Richie & Ginny Sherwood, and Art & Stephanie Monsanto; and her dogs Harley & Dixie. Peggy is reunited in heaven with her husband, "Bill" Mattie; her mother and father, Alan & Margaret Dietz; her grandmother, Annie MacDonald; and her first grandchild, Dustin Patrick.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the kind words and support during this difficult time. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, nanny, and friend. Words cannot express how much we will miss her feisty and loving personality.

Peggy's service will be held in the Chapel at McDonald & Son Funeral Home on Sunday, May 20th at 5:00 pm followed by visitation with the family until 7:00 pm. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at the Georgia National Cemetery on Monday, May 21st. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Forsyth County Humane Society or your local animal rescue organization.
