Malinda Cawthorne

Malinda Susan Cawthorne, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born to the late Clayton and Annie Lou McDaniel, Malinda grew up with a strong faith and a deep love for family that carried through her entire life. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bruce Cawthorne. She also shared a special bond with her former husband, Perry Patty, with whom she lovingly raised their daughter, Elizabeth.
Malinda is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Cherry, and her husband Greg; her cherished grandchildren, Annabelle, Emmaline, and James, who were the light of her life; her brother Steve McDaniel and his wife Judy; her sister Helen Davis and her husband Chris; and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
A woman of many talents, Malinda was a gifted interior designer whose eye for beauty brought warmth and joy to countless spaces. She was known for her fierce love and loyalty to her family, always showing up in times of need and in the everyday moments that mattered most. Her faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life, guiding her with strength and grace.
Malinda also found joy in the little things — a round of golf, a day of shopping, cheering for her Georgia Bulldogs, and most of all, time spent with the people she loved. To know her was to be blessed by her kindness, her presence, and her unwavering devotion.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Malinda’s life at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia, on Friday, September 26, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service at 12:30 p.m.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that Malinda’s legacy of love, faith, and beauty will live on through those who knew and loved her.
