M. J. "Johnny" Walker Obituary (1921 - 2011)

M.J. (Johnny) Walker, 89 of Dahlonega passed away on Thursday August 11, at the Bell Minor Nursing Home in Gainesville, GA. He was a Christian man whose life was centered around God, his church, and his family. Mr. Walker was a Deacon and a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church since 1956 and was very active with the James Cooper Prayer Group and Path Finders Sunday School Class. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Corp after serving during World War II and later retired from Pine Tree in Dahlonega. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Loucinda Phillips Walker and his loving wife of 60 years Mrs. Edna Belle Bennett Walker. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, William D. (Danny) Walker & Susan Walker of Murrayville, GA; his sister Mary Valdivieso of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Jonathan Walker of Gainesville, GA, Julie & Shane Padgett of Gainesville, GA; great grandchildren, Kiley, Tate, and Brooke Padgett of Gainesville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Saturday August 20, 2011 at the Dahlonega Baptist Church with the Reverends Bill Hutchinson, and Michael Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega. The family will receive friends Friday, August 19, 2011 from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Dahlonega Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Dahlonega Baptist Church preschool program
