Lewis Griffin

Lewis Boyd Griffin, 83, of Dawsonville, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife and son on July 26, 2017. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 2 at 3:00 PM at McDonald & Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia. A period of visitation will be held at 2:00 PM, prior to the service. Lewis was born in Decatur, Georgia on August 13, 1933. He earned his BA in Business from Georgia State University. He would then go on to earn a law degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law. He also served in the Georgia Army National Guard. Lewis was married to Sylvia S. Griffin (Saunders) on June 16th, 1962. They were married 55 years. Lewis began his career with INA/CIGNA in claims management. He would go on to become manager for CIGNA's Southeast Region, Property and Casualty, retiring after 30+ years. He would later return as a consulting claim evaluator for both CIGNA and International Healthcare Consultants. He was a 33o Freemason with the Scottish Rite and was a member of the Yaarab Temple. Lewis is survived by his wife, Sylvia; his three sons Lewis Boyd Griffin, Jr. "Rusty", William Walter, and Jon Michael; his four grandchildren Lewis, Hunter, Maribrooke and Tatyana; and the rest of his family and friends. Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, Sema Elizabeth Griffin, John Leon Griffin, and his brother, Leon. Donations in his memory can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
