Levy Edward Stewart

–

Cumming, Georgia

Levy Edward "Ed" Stewart, left his earthly home, on December 25, 2021. Born on February 19, 1944, in Lyons Georgia. Ed was the youngest of five siblings. He started work at a young age, delivering newspapers from his bike and working at the C&S grocery store with his older brothers. Ed graduated from Georgia Southern University and then joined the US Navy. Following his service, Ed moved to Atlanta, where he began his career as an Engineer for Western Electric. He retired from Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent after 30 years with perfect attendance. Ed married Linda Lee Smith in 1973, and was committed to providing and caring for his wife and three daughters. After retirement, each day he woke to read The Word, pray over those on his prayer list, cook breakfast for himself and Linda, and help around the house. He enjoyed quiet time in his garden, at the barn, on his mower, and on the front porch.

He was greeted in heaven by his father, Robert Stewart; stepfather, Edgar Bass; mom, Bennie (Lynn) Bass; two brothers, Wilbur Stewart and Ralph Stewart; one sister, Dorothy (Stewart) McDaniel; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Those remaining here to celebrate his life, are his wife of 48 years, Linda (Smith) Stewart, his three daughters and sons-in-law: Rachel (Stewart) and Lee Higgins; Rebecca (Stewart) Maume and Matt Majoli; Sarah (Stewart) and Chuck Hodge; three grandkids: Alexandra, Jenson, and Ashlee; his sister, Mary Alice (Stewart) Wilder; nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 28th, from 9:30am - Noon, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. A private family service will be held following the visitation. Burial will occur at a later date, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.

Ed was a member of the First Redeemer Church of Cumming Georgia, and the family offers that in lieu of flowers, you may choose to contribute donations towards The Gideon's. Donations may be made online:
