Lee Stringer, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the age of 86.
He grew up in East Lake, (Southeast Atlanta). Lee was an incredible athlete and it showed in the sports he pursued - a champion swimmer and baseball player. He was a "ramblin' wreck from GA Tech" and remained a loyal fan throughout his life. He studied architecture during his time at Tech and went on to have a flourishing career. He designed for a living, and also for fun, adding curves, mirrors, and flare to everything he could.
Lee loved life. He loved to laugh and loved even more to make others laugh. He never met a stranger and brought fun into every interaction with everyone he knew or met, leaving a lasting impression on so many throughout his life. More than anything, he loved his family. Lee spent his life making sure his family was well cared for in every way. He and his wife, Carolyn, had a relationship that was unshakable. They were devoted to one another and deeply in love since they met as teenagers, where he was the handsome young lifeguard at her neighborhood pool. He was an incredibly proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and anyone who met him knew that. He was known by many nicknames throughout his life, but "Papa" was probably the one he loved to hear the most. Lee loved the Lord and spent many years serving and leading in his church. Lee will be greatly missed by many, whether you were his family, life-long friend, or had a short encounter with him.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn, his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Terry Pugh, granddaughters Britni Ingram (Blake) and Ashley Juliano (Rich), great grandchildren Ethan Ingram, Isabella Ingram and a great granddaughter on the way, brothers Guy Morrow Stringer,Jr. (Kay) and Ben "Biff" Stringer (Linda), sister Midge Godfrey, brother-in-law Gene Anderson, sister-in-law Brenda Freeland (Jarrett), nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and countless close friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Marcella & Guy Morrow Stringer, Sr. , sister-in-law JoAnn Anderson, brother-in-law Jerry Godfrey, brother-in-law Jerry Cullens (Carol).
A celebration of his wonderful life will take place at McDonald & Son Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. on July 30th, 2022. Visitation will be at 11:00am followed by a service at 12:00pm.
