Laura Lavezzo

Laura Lavezzo Carrico, 52, born in Washington, DC, left us too soon on January 7, 2024 in Cumming, GA, after a long and courageous battle with leiomyosarcoma.

She is survived by her loving husband Michael Carrico, parents Paul and Sheryl Lavezzo, sister Jennie Lavezzo Eade (Colin), brothers Adam Lavezzo (Kimberly Hanley) and Nate Lavezzo, sister Joy Lavezzo Katz (Brent), sisters-in-law Shelley Ashby and Stephanie Strout, as well as several nieces and nephews who adored her.

Laura was educated at the University of Maryland, where she graduated with a degree in marine biology, and at Brenau University, where she received her teaching certificate. She was the Lifestyle Editor of the Forsyth County News prior to her 20 year career as a beloved elementary and middle school teacher in Forsyth County. Her creativity, kindness, curiosity, sense of humor, and loving nature will be missed by all who knew her.
