He was a self-employed carpenter/painter doing remodel work on homes and offices throughout the Lonoke/Prairie County Areas. Larry was born June 10, 1948, at VanDuyn Clinic in Stuttgart, Arkansas, the firstborn of six children to John J. and Lorraine (Duch) Madar. Larry attended Catholic School at Slovac, Arkansas and entered Carlisle High School in eighth grade, and was a 1969 graduate of Carlisle High School. On Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1970, he married his wife, Joyce Hill Madar, of 41 years of marriage. To this union was born one child, Melody Madar Abernathy, seven years after their marriage. In his younger years, Larry was an avid hunter. He loved duck hunting-duck hunting with a gun and bow. Fishing was also his hobby. Larry worked long, hard hours from an early age until his death, in early years farming until he learned carpentry alongside his father-in-law and worked for local carpenter unions throughout Little Rock, AR, where he learned his talent. Larry earned the title of Pop on March 16, 2008, when his only grandchild, William Grant Abernathy was born. His cheery disposition radiated at the mention of Will s name, and he loved being #1 Pop. Larry was always willing to help others whenever he could. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
