Katherine Nuckolls

Katherine Nuckolls, born on January 22, 1930, to Harold and Frances Goodwin died peacefully surrounded by family on December 7, 2024.

Katherine's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and profession. She was a devoted wife to Benny Nuckolls, Sr. for 61 years, who preceded her in death, and an inspiring mother to her children: Kim Davis, Lamar Nuckolls and Michael Nuckolls. She is also survived by her grandson Taylor (Mallory) Davis, sister-in-law Sandra Williams and several nieces and nephews. Katherine was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law Nellie and Truman Nuckolls, brother, Bill Goodwin, and sisters, Anita Parsons and Pat Page. She touched numerous hearts with her warmth and left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Katherine was a graduate of West Fulton High School and Grady School of Nursing. She began her nursing career at Grady until she moved to Cumming in 1950, where she began working at Mary Alice Hospital on the square. She next worked at Forsyth County Hospital for 45 years and was the director of nursing for 20 years and retired in 1985.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 4:00 until 9:00pm and Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 10:00 am until 1:00pm at McDonald & Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Cumming Baptist Church led by Jamie Archer and followed by a graveside service at Sawnee View Gardens.

The family would like to thank Agape Hospice, especially Lindsay, Maggie and Gertrude, and the rest of the staff for their care and compassion. We invite all who knew and loved Katherine to leave memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Her life was full of compassion and dedication.
