Karen Fries Gormley

May 17, 1957 ~ July 28, 2021

Karen Fries Gormley 64, of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 28th, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Karen was born on May 17, 1957 to Karl Alexander Fries & Florence Monroe Fries in Atlanta, GA and was the third child of five siblings. Karen went to Elementary School at DF McClatchy, Dykes High in Atlanta and her family moved to Cumming in 1973. She attended and was a graduate of Forsyth County High School in 1975, and went to Rinehart College in 1976/77. Karen worked in various sales and marketing positions mostly in food wholesale industry and retired in 2020. Karen loved animals, gardening and was an avid reader. Karen was a very bright and caring woman who enjoyed helping others and spending time with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Karl Fries, Sr. She is survived by her mother Florence Fries, her son Rob, her sister Ellen and brothers Dan, Dillon, and Karl Jr.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 5th, 2021 at 1:00pm in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Bowling officiating.
