It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of a remarkable woman, Joy Allen Turner, born May 13, 1943, in New York, NY, USA. Joy, a resilient and dedicated soul, lived a fulfilling life marked by love, generosity, and ambition until her passing on January 3, 2025. We are grateful for the time we shared with her, and her spirit will continue to nourish our hearts and memories.
Joy was a woman of faith and was actively involved in her local bible study group, which held a special place in her heart. This dedication extended to her love for outdoor activities, playing games and solving puzzles, which she often engaged in with her beloved family and friends. One of her proudest accomplishments was completing the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, demonstrating her resilience and determination in defeating cancer not once but twice.
Joy is survived by her loving husband, Richard Turner, her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Ann Turner, her grandsons, Sage and Austin Turner, her sisters, Loretta Blount and Jeannie Alley, and her brother-in-law, Johnny Alley. Joy's love and generosity extended beyond her immediate family, as she also left behind several cherished nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alan and Muriel Lashbrook.
Please take the time to share your memories and upload photos to Joy's memorial page, as we celebrate the remarkable life of Joy Turner, a woman whose name truly reflected the love, laughter, and, indeed, joy she brought to all who knew her. We conclude with this Bible verse from Psalm 46:1-3: "God is a refuge and strength, and can help overcome worry and fear."
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to American Cancer Society.
On March 22, 2025 at 1:00pm, family and friends will gather to celebrate and share memories of Joy Turner's life.
