Jordan Woods, 22, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away unexpectedly January 2, 2010. And although Jordan s life ended much too soon, he will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him. Having graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2009 with a Major in International Affairs, he planned to enter the Masters program this coming fall. An avid Bulldog fan, Jordan was passionate about the school and their football team and attended every home game the 4 years he attended UGA, as well as many away games. In addition, Jordan was especially proud to be a member of the Delta Rho chapter of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity; a brother since 2005 and their House Manager from 2007-08 he will forever be in the bonds of brotherhood . His interest in politics and government led him to an internship on Capitol Hill in the summer of 2008; he turned 21 while working in the offices of both the Senate and the House but seemed so much wiser than his years. He had hoped to parlay that experience, his education and his love for our country into a career in National security or counter-terrorism. Living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Jordan embraced life to the fullest, never taking shortcuts or looking for an easy way out. A 2005 graduate of Collins Hill High School, Jordan missed just one day of school his entire 12 years due only to a problem with his wheelchair. Surprising no one, Jordan achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2004 and founded the Collins Hill Chapter of the Teenage Republicans. As an active member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for years, Jordan received the Georgia State Personal Achievement Award in 2006 which recognizes the accomplishments and community service of adults over 18 with disabilities caused by MD. An avid sports fan, Jordan loved the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks, Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. Friends and family marveled at the depth of his player and team knowledge and enjoyed reading his online observations, quips and critiques. Keenly aware of the world around him, Jordan devoured the news and current events. He was also a huge music fan. Left to cherish Jordan s memory are his parents, David and Jackie Woods and his sister, Amanda as well as Paternal Grandparents, Richard and Joanne Woods, Maternal Grandparents, Larry and Cecile Major and several Aunts, Uncles, Great Aunts, Great Uncles and Cousins.
