With great sadness, the Manton family shares the passing of John Jay Manton.
Born in Syracuse, New York to John Jeremiah and Doris Elizabeth Manton. John grew up with a passion for music and spent his life enjoying all things music-related. In his younger years, he loved sailplanes and sailboats. He spent time working on and building them. He spent his entire career working at AT&T. He started in the mailroom and through his intellect and hard work made his way up to a management level in IT. He retired after over 40 years with the company in 2019.
Beyond his work, John was defined by his love for woodworking, sailing and family. Those who knew him will best remember his helping hand, sense of humor, storytelling and the way he loved and showed up for his family.
John is survived by his wife, Tina, their children, John Joseph (JJ) Manton (Jessica), James Alexander Manton (Jacklyn) and Jeremy Patrick Manton, and his beloved grandchildren Aiden and Addison Manton and Juliette and Jude Manton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Doris Manton.
An intimate celebration of John’s life will be held on December 12th in Cumming, GA. Specific details will be shared at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The National Kidney Foundation, in honor of his long fought battle with Kidney Disease
