John Manton

–

Cumming, Georgia

With heartfelt remembrance, we celebrate the vibrant life of John Jeremiah Manton, born on the 4th of December, 1930, in Syracuse, NY. John was a charismatic soul, known for his witty storytelling and adventurous spirit. His life was a testament to the quote, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all," by Helen Keller. John's life was indeed a daring adventure that spanned over 93 fulfilling years.

John spent his retirement years in Cumming, GA after a successful career as a Division Manager at AT&T. Following retirement, he became a successful Real Estate Agent in Forsyth County.

Throughout his life, his adventurous spirit also led him to pursue a range of hobbies including woodworking, amateur radio, sailing, ballooning, sailplaning, stock car racing, gardening, and ceramics. His memberships in AARP, SARA, and AARL bore testament to his vibrant social life and community involvement. Most of all, his love and dedication to his family was his greatest achievement.

John was a self-made man with humble beginnings. His intelligence and hard work paved the way for a prosperous life, not just for him, but for his beloved family as well. He is survived by his son, John Manton (Tina); sister, Patricia Seago; half-sister, Katherine Kaczorowski; grandsons, John "JJ" Manton (Jessica), James Manton (Jacklyn), and Jeremy Manton; and great-grandchildren, Aiden, Addison, Juliette, and Jude Manton. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Manton and Arlene Vangiesen; wife, Doris Manton; sister, Barbara Johnson; and brothers, Corky and Tommy Manton.

John's legacy of love, infectious laughter, and kindness will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he leaves behind. His stories will be told, and his life will continue to be celebrated, for he truly lived a life worth remembering. He lived his life by one of his favorite sayings "Always leave the wood pile higher than you found it."

In celebration of John's life, we invite you to leave your memories and upload photos on his memorial page. Let's remember John Manton not for his departure, but for the joy, warmth, and love he shared during his time with us.
