John Knosher

John "Jack" Knosher, age 90, of Cumming, Georgia passed away Monday, August 12, 2019. Mr. Knosher was of the Presbyterian Faith and a veteran of the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends Friday, August 16, 2019 from 10 to 11AM with a service following at 11AM in the Chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. He will be interred at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Jack grew up in Aurora, Illinois and attended Stanford University on a golf scholarship where he graduated with a business degree. He started his furniture sales career and family with Judy, wife of 63 years, in Naperville, Ill. and eventually transferred to Atlanta, GA where he took his family boating on Lake Lanier throughout multiple summers, went on many an adventure with wife Judy, such as to The Netherlands, Hawaii, and Australia, and for the last two decades plus, shared stories and offered wisdom to his five granddaughters here in Cumming, GA. He enjoyed tennis in later life and played on the courts competitively. Jack was a lover of animals, particularly dogs, and he had a thirst for knowledge unlike most. Often three to four books sat upon his nightside table, all having been read from voraciously throughout the day and into the evening. Humorous and full of expression, with a vocabulary that would impress the most knowledgeable wordsmith, Jack Knosher could tell a tale or relay a joke or share a memory that captivated all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Judy Knosher, of Cumming, GA; daughters Brenda Knosher and Julie Boyer, of Decatur, GA; Sandy McCain, of Inlet Beach, Florida; sons and daughter-in-law Greg Knosher, of Daphne, AL; Geoff and Karen Knosher, of Alpharetta, GA; brother and sister-in-law Harley and Peg Knosher, of Galesburg, IL; granddaughters Kyndall McCain, Chandler McCain, Skylar McCain, Katherine Knosher and Emily Knosher.
