JoAnn "Jo" Marie (Harden) Humber (1955-2017)

JoAnn "Jo" Marie (Harden) Humber, 62, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. She was born on August 13, 1955 to Daisy (Delgado) Hogue and the late James Harden.

Jo was a graduate of Peachtree High School in Dunwoody, Georgia, class of 1973 and a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Medical Assistant program in 1975. Throughout her life, Jo explored many passions, hobbies and jobs, some of which she created for herself. In the year 1989, Jo founded the company "Chipper by the Dozen," essentially beginning the Edible Arrangements craze before Edible Arrangements existed. Jo perfected her larger-than-life chocolate chip cookie recipe, and formed bouquets of cookies served in flower pots by the dozen. Jo was often described as a powerhouse...a phenomenal cook & baker, passionate musician, lover of the arts, and a profoundly loyal, sensitive, and supportive friend. As an immensely creative person, Jo loved the art of decorating, the challenge of organizing memorable events and rarely did anything without putting her entire heart and soul behind it. She enjoyed working with her colleagues at ON Services (Staging Directions). As a concierge at her weekend job, at Benton House, Jo formed close bonds with many of the elderly residents and found her time with them especially rewarding.

She was incredibly funny, had a contagious laugh, and navigated even the most difficult of situations with strength and humor. Her lust for life and determination to truly take advantage of every day set her apart from the rest, and inspired us all. Of all her many roles and accomplishments, Jo was most proud of being a mother to her son Jamie. She cherished this part of her life and nothing gave her more pride and joy than to witness him grow into the man he is today. Loved by many, her presence will be missed by anyone who had the honor of having their lives touched by Jo.

Jo is survived by her loving son Jameson "Jamie" Humber, Mother Daisy Hogue, Sisters Susan (Harden) Lizotte, Jennifer Harden, Laurie (Harden) Gormanous and Julie (Harden) Liebnitz as well as many nieces and nephews, and of course her beloved dog Baxter.

A memorial service will be held for family, friends, and colleagues on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Johns Creek United Methodist Church (1180 Medlock Bridge Rd., Johns Creek, GA) at 5:30 p.m. A reception will follow at The Laurel Springs Golf Clubhouse (6400 Golf Club Drive, Suwanee, GA) at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we graciously request donations be made in honor of Jo to the Gwinnett Humane Society (gwinnetthumane.com), a special charity that Jo supported.
