Murrayville, Georgia
Joan Parris Couch, age 76, passed away peacefully after a long fight with cancer. She was just 5 days shy of her 77th birthday. Joan was born September 24th, 1946 to William and Nevada Parris in Atlanta, GA. She was a resident of Georgia her whole life, with 40 years being spent in both Clermont and Dahlonega, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Benjamin Couch whom she was married to for nearly 37 years.
Joan was an amazing woman of faith. God was at the center of everything she lived for. In good times and bad, no matter the circumstances, she always believed He was the answer to everything. Even in her fight for life, she never lost hope and constantly passed that hope to others. She never stopped believing that "God's got this". Joan was the most selfless person we knew and would go out of her way to help others before even thinking about herself. She would also rather spend her time praying for the needs of others than for the trials of her own. She was unashamed of the gospel and her one greatest desire was to take as many people to heaven as possible; where she now rests forever.
Joan loved many things like vacationing, looking for deals at yard sales, gardening, planting flowers, and watching beautiful hummingbirds eagerly consume her bird food. Cooking was another of her favorite things to do. While she loved feeding birds, she would rather feed her family. Biscuits, hen dressing, and homemade chocolate poke cake were just a few of her specialities. Above all, Joan loved spending time with her family and friends. She cherished every one of those moments. Nothing could make her happier than a text, a phone call, a visit, or a special occasion where she could just enjoy some time with those she loved. Her kids and grandkids were her everything.
Joan is survived by her sister Diane Davis, children Philip and Samantha Dunn, Marc and Tanya Dunn, Jennifer Dunn, step-children Carol and Mark Parnell, Homer Couch, grandchildren Kaitlin Dunn, Melinda and Jacob Barnes, nephews Curtis and Tonia Davis, William and Heather Davis, and many great nieces and nephews.
