Jerry McDonald Dean

Jerry McDonald Dean, beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away at his home

on November 2, 2022. Jerry, age 76, was a resident of Gainesville, Georgia.

Jerry was a loving son to his parents, a wonderful brother to his three sisters, a loving husband to Linda

and incredible father to his girls. He loved nothing more than to hold all of his grandbabies and took so

much pride in their growth and accomplishments. His daughters and son-in-laws will miss his humor,

love and his guidance.

Jerry was born in Niagara Falls, New York in December 1945 to parents, Frank S. Dean and Marguerite

McDonald Dean. He attended Clarkson College of Technology, Potsdam, New York and graduated with a

Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Jerry worked hard his entire life as a project manager in the pulp

and paper industry. He moved his family all over the United States to states such as Ohio, Kansas,

North Dakota, Washington, California and finally Georgia.

Jerry retired at the age of 72. He became the president of his neighborhood's Homeowners Association.

He helped all the people he knew that needed a hand up with a small house project, lawncare or just a

friend to visit. For the past year, he was helping his daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Chris to build their

home from the ground up! He was an amazing human being with tireless energy to give to other

people.

In every location Jerry was a devoted member of his church community. While living in Georgia, Jerry

has been an invaluable member of the Lanier United Method Church since 1995. He has served as a Lay

person for most of those years and as building chairperson for the past ten. The Church has honored

him with his service by naming their new wing that is in construction "Dean Hall". He was so blessed by

his church family and he loved nothing better than to make their lives better. Jerry was truly honored to

hear the news before he left to be with God.

Jerry is preceded in death by his father Frank Dean, mother Marguerite Dean, and sisters Lorraine and

Carol Dean. He is survived by his sister, Linda Kottre of Torrance, California.

Jerry is survived by his wife Linda Dean and his children: Elisabeth (Charles) Rose of Hayward, California,

Jennifer (Chris) Arrington of Talking Rock, Georgia, Rebecca (Scott) Halter of Huntsville, Alabama, Jessica

(Ryan) McDonald of Gainesville, Georgia and Susan (Michael) Hardy of Gainesville, Georgia.

Jerry had 12 Grandchildren: Madeline Rose, Heidi Rose, Michael Hardy, Jonathan Hardy, Kylene

McDonald, Lucy Halter, Molly Halter, Dean McDonald, Jessica Hardy, Bonnie Halter, Cindy Halter and Lily

Arrington.

Memorial Service to be held in the chapel of Lanier United Methodist Church located at 1979 Buford

Highway, Cumming Georgia on November 19, 2022 at 4:00pm. Services will be followed by a reception

in the Fellowship Hall. Donations can be made to the building fund at Lanier United Methodist Church

or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his honor.
