Janet Strom

–

Cumming, Georgia

Janet Marie Strom, age 92, of Cumming, GA, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026. She was born May 11, 1934, in Chicago, IL, to the late Elmer and Elva Born.

While single, Janet was an elementary school teacher, spending her summers traveling abroad with friends. She married James Richard Strom on September 22, 1962, and moved to Pittsburgh, PA. Raising a family together was the highlight of Janet’s life. They were active members of St. Edward Catholic Church and their years in Pittsburgh were blessed with countless friends and happy memories.

In 2010, Janet and Jim moved to Cumming, GA, where they enjoyed their time establishing new wonderful friendships, as well as now living near family in the area.

Janet spent her life serving God by serving others. She was a loving wife of 55 years, mother to five children, patient caretaker of her younger sister, Patty, for 46 years, “Nonnie” to grand & great-grandchildren, thoughtful Aunt, and loyal friend. Every life event, good and bad, was met with the same scripture verse: “Praise God in all circumstances.” (1 Thess 5:16-18). Janet was unwavering in her faith in God to provide for our needs and to thank Him for His blessings! She was dearly loved by all who knew her.

Janet is survived by her children, Mary (Ralph) Malecki, Richard (Karen) Strom, Jeffrey (Shannon) Strom, Joanne (Brian) Boon, Amy (Ludi) Gericke; grandchildren Mary Katherine (Bryce) Haynes, Jimmy (Michelle), Elizabeth, Matt, and Jack Strom; Brandon, Reagan, Alyson, Morgan, and Ellen Strom; Emma (Jack) Brink, Michael, Kate, and Max Boon; great grandchildren Will, TJ, Luke, and Patrick Haynes; Meredith, Roman, and Joseph Strom; Henry Brink; and many nieces and nephews! Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and sisters Peggy Ulbert and Patty Born.
