It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of an extraordinary man, James Johnson, on August 4, 2025. James, a resilient soul, was a beacon of love, strength, and support for his family and friends. Born with an adventurous spirit, he held a deep love for the outdoors, translated through his passion for hunting and fishing. A retired serviceman, James displayed unwavering loyalty to his loved ones and his country.
James was known for his thoughtful nature, always putting the needs of others before his own. His love for his family, friends, and pets was unparalleled. He was a devoted husband to Linda Johnson, sharing a beautiful journey of love and companionship since their marriage on May 26, 1999. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, joy, and endless memories.
James' legacy lives on through his loving family that he leaves behind: sons James (Angela) Johnson, Eric (Billie) Johnson, Keith (Jesmarie) Johnson, and Michael (Jennifer) Pickens; daughter Heather Johnson; cherished grandchildren Matthew, Megan, Penny, Ian, Dylan, and Christopher; and great-grandsons Stanley and Paxton. His strength and courage continue to inspire his family, who remember him as a supportive figure, constantly encouraging them to persevere through life's challenges.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held in honor of James on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 6:00 pm EDT at the Dahlonega Funeral Home, located at 20 Gibson Road, Dahlonega, Georgia, 30533. We invite all who knew and loved James to join us in celebrating his remarkable life.
We encourage those who had the pleasure of knowing James to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page. Your stories will serve as a precious reminder of the impact James had on the lives of so many. Let us remember James not with sadness, but with the joy and love he brought into our lives. Let his spirit live on in our hearts, and in the stories we share about him, forever.
