James Johnson Gideon

James Johnson Gideon, age 78, of Cumming, passed away February 27, 2021. Jim travelled the world while working for IBM for 50 years and retired in 2017. He was a member of The Gideons for several years and enjoyed the Christians in Action Sunday School class at First Redeemer Church. He was a Technical Sergeant in the Alabama Air National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Pinckney Gideon Jr and Lera Johnson Gideon, his brother William Pinckney Gideon III, and his wife of 49 years, Catherine Woolley Gideon. Jim is survived by his sons James Johnson Gideon Jr. (Brooke), Benjamin Roy Gideon (Laura Susan), and David William Gideon (Kristen) and grandchildren Reagan Michelle Gideon, Jackson Robert Moye, Benjamin Tyler Gideon, Victoria Rhea Gideon, and Dove Catherine Gideon and his sister Dorothy Gideon Bassett (Bill). A memorial service will be held at McDonald and Sons Funeral home in Cumming Ga on March 2nd 2021 at 12pm ET with visitation from 10am-12pm ET with Jerry Carringer officiating. Burial service will be held at Montevallo City Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama on March 3rd 2021 at 1pm CT and will be officiated by Pastor Mike Schmid.
