James Borzak

–

Cumming, Georgia

Dr. James Borzak, age 68, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 9, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Ted and Caroline Borzak who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Smith Borzak; son James Michael Borzak, daughter Angela Borzak Piszczek (Brian) and grandchildren Joseph, Sophia, and Luke; sisters Sandy Miller (Jack) and Sharry Rose (Tommy) and his brother Robert (Rhea)who preceded him in death. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the most important people in his life, and he loved and adored them all. James always put his family above all other things, along with his faith. He attended St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Cumming and served as a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and was the Grand Knight, a council person, as well as a tinker who volunteered to keep the church and grounds in immaculate condition and always served at the annual fish fry dinners. His favorite prayer is one that he lived by everyday "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace: where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy."

As a dedicated educator in DeKalb and Forsyth County School Systems where he retired, he thoroughly enjoyed teaching middle school students in math, science, and technology. He always arrived early to school and offered tutoring or simply a place to hang out for any students. Outside of school, he was an avid naturalist who created a certified wildlife backyard habitat at their home, and he loved creating authentic pieces of furniture and remodeling projects for his and his daughter's home. He also loved camping and boating with his family; they spent many July 4th holidays at Lake Rabun.

Dr. Borzak enjoyed many titles, such as beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, mentor, tutor, and the most genuine friend anyone could ever have. James did not mince words and would give you his honest opinion; however, he was always willing to listen to others and accept all friends with an unconditional love. He always enjoyed socializing with his friends and oftentimes shared stories, laughter, and wings with them at regular luncheons. His positive attitude will always be remembered and cherished by everyone who knew him.

Dr. Borzak's funeral/memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church 4633 Shiloh Road, Cumming, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Kidney Foundation or to St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Cumming.
