Jackie Warren Martin

–

Cumming, Georgia

Jackie (Jack) Warren Martin of Cumming, GA passed away peacefully at home March 24, 2023. Born to Lela Blanche Martin (Spangler) and Clarence Lewis Martin in Lawrenceville, Illinois, Jack was the only son until 1940 when his brother Robert Hugh Martin was born. Upon graduating from Lawrenceville High School in 1950, Jack joined the United States Navy in 1951 where he served with honor for four years. He then served as a civilian worker for the Army until his retirement at 55.

One of the most significant parts of Jack's life was his involvement in Barbershop singing. He started singing in 1971 and continued to be an active part of various chapters until his passing. He was a founding member of the North Georgia Barbershop Singers in Cumming, GA.

In the fall of 1961, Jack met Nancy Lee Esarey (1938-2014). They were married May 13, 1962 and had three children: Elizabeth Jean (1964), Gerald Lewis (1965), and Kelly Lynn (1970). They raised their kids in Florissant, Missouri before moving south to Florida. Several years later, they moved to Cumming, GA to be close to family.

After 51 years of marriage, Nancy passed in 2014, and God gave Jack a second chance at love. He married Mary LaPointe on November 7, 2015. Together they were able to travel to many Barbershop singing conventions, visit Cuba, go on many cruises, and fill too few years with enough love to last a lifetime.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lee Martin, his sister-in-law Barbara Jean Martin, his mother, Lela Blanche Spangler, and his father, Clarence Lewis Martin.

Jack is survived by his wife Mary LaPointe Martin, brother Robert H. Martin, daughter Elizabeth (Kevin) deSousa, son Gerald (Jackie) Martin, daughter Kelly Starling, step-son Lou LaPointe (Kasey), grandchildren Leah Martin, Troy Martin, Emily Starling, Jackson Starling, Claire Starling, Katherine Emerson, Amanda deSousa, Gabby LaPointe and great-grandchild Charles (Charlie) Emerson Weaver along with many other beloved family members and friends.
