Beloved mother, grandmother, and trailblazer

Hwa Cha Kim, 79, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Cumming, Georgia. Born in Yeachun, South Korea, she lived a remarkable life defined by courage, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to her family.

In 1974, Hwa Cha immigrated to the United States with her husband, Chong Ho Kim, and their 3 year old daughter, Un Suk, carrying with them only $100 and the dream of a better life. Through sheer determination and tireless effort, she carved out a new path—starting work at the Dixie Cup factory, then becoming the owner of a Southern-style fast food restaurant, and eventually founding successful small businesses: Young Fashion, New Young Fashion, and CK Plaza consisting of CK Food Convenient Store, CK laundromat, restaurant, and pawn shop.

She was a woman of great strength, discipline, and drive. Though not always easygoing, her pure heart and fierce love for her family were always evident. Her greatest joy in later life was gardening—caring for flowers with the same attention and love she gave to those around her.

Hwa Cha (Maria) was baptized as a Catholic and carried her faith quietly but faithfully.

She is survived by her daughters Tina Kim Carrera, spouse Daniel Carrera and Cindy Un Ehret spouse Nicholas Ehret, and her beloved grandchildren: Eva, Lola, Hugo, Amelia, and Xavier. She was preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Un Young Kim, whose memory she carried with her every day.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm., service following at 1:00 pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA 30040. Reception to follow on-site. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose strength, sacrifice, and legacy will endure.

그녀는 강인하고 규율적이며 추진력이 강한 여성이었습니다. 항상 느긋한 성격은 아니었지만, 순수한 마음과 가족에 대한 뜨거운 사랑은 언제나 분명했습니다. 말년에 그녀의 가장 큰 기쁨은 정원 가꾸기였습니다. 주변 사람들에게 베푸는 것과 같은 관심과 사랑으로 꽃을 가꾸는 것이었습니다.

화자(마리아)는 가톨릭 세례를 받고 조용하지만 충실하게 신앙을 지켰습니다.

그녀는 두 딸 티나 킴 카레라(Tina Kim Carrera), 배우자 다니엘 카레라(Daniel Carrera), 신디 운 에렛(Cindy Un Ehret)의 배우자 니콜라스 에렛(Nicholas Ehret), 그리고 사랑하는 손주 에바(Eva), 롤라(Lola), 휴고(Hugo), 아멜리아(Amelia), 자비에(Xavier)를 남겼습니다. 그녀는 사랑하는 딸 김운영보다 먼저 세상을 떠났고, 그녀는 매일 김운영의 추억을 가슴에 품었습니다.
