Hugh Gene Harrelson, Jr.

Hugh Gene Harrelson, Jr., 77, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016. Hugh was born in Lexington, North Carolina on January 25, 1939. He was the son of the late Hugh and Elizabeth Harrelson and the loving husband of over 51 years to Judith (Judy) Vandora Ashby.

Hugh was a graduate of Lexington Senior High School. He was a proud alumnus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Textile Chemistry. He received his Master's Degree in Textile Technology from the Institute of Textile Technology in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Hugh served in the United States Marine Corps for four years, leaving as Captain. He spent decades in managerial positions for research and product development at BASF Corporation, during which, he was granted numerous inventor patents. Hugh retired as their International Marketing Manager.

Along with his wife, Judy, of Anderson, he is survived by his two sons and one daughter, David Harrelson (Jill) of Cumming, GA, Craig Harrelson (Ashley) of Anderson, SC, and Mary Miles Kokotek (Zdenek) of Summerville, GA; Grandchildren: Jacob Harrelson, Campbell Harrelson, Zoe Kokotek, James Harrelson, Finnan Kokotek, Sullivan Harrelson, Jeb Harrelson, Myla Kokotek, Ryker Kokotek, and Luke Kokotek.

The family will be honoring and celebrating his life at a private memorial service.
