Hubert Lee Moody, Jr.

–

Cumming, Georgia

Hubert Lee Moody Jr. 96, was called Home to his Lord and Savior on December 12, 2021. He was born October 7, 1925 in Atlanta to Hubert and Thelma Teal Moody, and grew up in the Orchard Knob community.

Hubert was an ROTC cadet graduating from Fulton High School in 1942. He joined the Navy in 1943 and became an Aviation Technician specializing in airplane instrumentation. He married his sweetheart Kathleen (Kitty) Christopher in May 1947. They enjoyed 74 years together and lots of activities, but traveling the USA and visiting every state was special for them. They were members of Briarcliff Baptist, Atlanta, and later First Baptist, Cumming. Hubert was a Deacon for many years and served as Chairman, was a church visitation leader, and loved sharing Jesus with others.

Upon leaving the Navy in 1946, Hubert began a lifelong career in the Industrial Supply business working early in his career for Southeastern Hardware Company, Pye Barker Supply, and Kane Textile and Supply Company. He was a Charter Member, Past President (1956-57), and Lifetime Member of the Atlanta City Sales Club. As a member of the Lions Club of NE Atlanta, he was Past President (1957-58) and accomplished 40 years of perfect attendance. In 1959 Hubert and his partners founded Simco Supply Company and he served as Chairman of the Board for many years. He was also a Past President and Director of the Power Transmission Distributors Association.

Friends and family enjoyed Hubert's passion for life and his sense of humor (he always had a joke to share). He enjoyed bowling, riding motorcycles (dirt bikes) and was an automobile enthusiast, sang in a barbershop quartet, loved music, enjoyed camping in his many different travel trailers, boating, and played tennis until he was 91 years old. He had a tender heart, was a sweet man, and will be greatly missed this side of Heaven.

Hubert was preceded in death by his loving wife Kathleen (Kitty), his son Randy Lee Moody, and his sister Sandra Lydic. He is survived by his children Mark (Chrystie) Moody, Cumming, GA; Kathy (Ron) Ralston, Frederick, CO; his daughter-in-law Linda Moody, Canton, GA; his beloved 8 granddaughters Audrey (Tom) Newberry; Caroline (Austin) Davis; Bethany (Corey) Courtwright (Lasting Harvest Ministry*) ; Jordanna (Shannon) McMillan; Brittany (David) Beaver; Rachael (Jason) Clements; Olivia (Tim) Woodring; Courtney (Greg) Huenergardt; 20 darling great grandchildren; brother-in-law Bob Lydic (Acworth); and many loved nieces and nephews.

A family graveside service was held at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens, Cumming, GA. A celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Lasting Harvest International* (45 NE Hwy E, Warrensburg, MO 64093 or lastingharvestinternational.com).
