Herbert Shafer

Herbert Shafer, Attorney at Law for more than fifty years, passed away quietly Saturday, August 23, 2014, surrounded and loved by his step daughter, Paige Grove, her husband, Dave Grove and their four sons, Collin, Chandler, Cortland and Cooper. Mr. Shafer had been in their home since he suffered a massive heart attack in February of this year. Also at his side was his former wife, Ann Shafer, also an attorney. Mr. Shafer is survived by four of his five children: Elizabeth Kolken in Buffalo, New York, Ellen Gervase in Hacienda Heights, California, Phyllis Oreck in Los Angeles, California, Michael Shafer in Rolling Hills, California and nine grandchildren. A daughter, Sandy Kimber died suddenly approximately a year ago. Also Herb had 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. At Mr. Shafer's request, there will be no formal memorial service. McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia will be handling final arrangements of cremation.
