Harvey Johnson

–

Cumming, Georgia

Donald Harvey Johnson, 67, of Ball Ground passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019, after a brief battle with brain cancer. Harvey died as he lived, surrounded by loving family. Harvey was born in Atlanta and spent more than 50 summers on Lake Burton. The time adventuring with close friends and family truly made him the man he became. He retired from Patterson Dental Company, where he enjoyed many wonderful years and never met a stranger. Recently, he delighted in traveling between Florida and Georgia, continuing to enjoy his lifelong hobby of woodworking until his diagnosis early this year. Harvey leaves behind a brother, Ed Johnson (partner Teresa Boswell); a sister, Wright Westmoreland (partner Jose Narezo); nephews John Westmoreland, Stafford Johnson, Josh Johnson and niece Heather Tucker. He is also survived by his step-children Jeremy Gray and Renee McKoy (husband Chris; he specifically enjoyed doting on his step-grandchildren Macie and Kaylee), as well as a host of other friends and relatives. When people speak of Harvey, there is never a negative word. He was a fun-loving man who lived life fully and took care of everyone around him. He was incredibly loyal and truly devoted to his family. According to his wishes, no funeral services are planned. For those who wish to celebrate his life, he asks you to pay it forward, and take a moment to buy a friend or relative dinner, just to enjoy their company. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Winship Partner in Research Fund at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Office of Gift Records, 1762 Clifton Rd. NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30322 http://bit.ly/donate4harvey (when donating online, please specify the Winship Partner in Research Fund in the "other" gift designation field.)
