Gertrude E Wood

Gertrude (Trudy) Elizabeth Wood, age 82, of Cumming passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

Trudy was born to Theodore and Elizabeth Kamper in Stamford, Connecticut on April 18, 1935. She lived most of her adult life in Lewisboro, NY, raising her family, before moving to Cumming with her husband in 1999.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Benjamin F. Wood, Sr., their five sons; Benjamin (Marilyn), Stephen (Sherree), James, Andrew (Kathi), John, and their only daughter Elizabeth (Brian) Brylinski.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Monika, Brian, Matthew, Natania, Mary and Olivia Wood, Lauren and Mark Brylinski, as well as one great-grandchild on the way.

Trudy was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1954 and loved to teach Bible truths to others. She was an active member of the Sawnee Mountain Congregation until she succumbed to the ravages of Alzheimer's disease.

She loved everyone, especially children. She was known as being kind and generous to all, and their home was always open to those in need. She was a great cook and one of her favorite expressions was, "Are you hungry?" Those who knew her well especially remember her chocolate chip cookies. She truly 'followed the course of hospitality' (Romans 12:13).
