Gainesville, Georgia
Geraldine Hunter, affectionately known as Nanny Dean, was a compassionate beacon of love born on December 22, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia. Her life was a testament to her generous spirit, dedicated service, and thoughtful demeanor. She resided in Gainesville, Georgia, where her legacy of love continues to echo through the lives of those she touched.
Geraldine had a profound love for her family and friends, which was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a devoted mother to her children, Alan & Cindy Waldrop, Penny Millwood & Christie Caine, and a doting grandmother to Brittany & Brooke Waldrop, AJ & JAKE Millwood, Juliann & Ivy Caine. Her great-grandchildren Ryleigh and Hudson Millwood, Will, Jaysen, Maelynn, Kohen & Emersyn Morgan were the joys of her life. Geraldine extended her love beyond her immediate family, embracing several “claimed kids, grandkids, and great grandkids” who affectionately called her Nanny Dean. She is also survived by her siblings, Willie Frank Hunter and Betty Mae Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucille Hunter, and her beloved spouse, Joe Byers.
Geraldine's love for cooking was only surpassed by her love for her church, where she found solace and fulfillment before her health declined. She held the unofficial title of 'the best mom in the world,' an achievement that stood as a testament to her dedication and selflessness. Geraldine lived an exemplary life, firmly rooted in faith that reflected the words of the scripture, "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." (1 Peter 4:8)
