Gerald Burns

Mr. Gerald Burns, age 88, of Dawsonville, GA passed away peacefully at his home on July 27th, 2022.

Mr. Burns was born in Dromore, Northern Ireland to the late Mary Agnes Burns (McGoldrick) and James Patrick Burns on June 17, 1934.

Gerry immigrated to the United States in the late 1970's to pursue a career in the auto racing industry. His lifelong passions were auto racing and horse training. Gerry had an exciting life as a tire engineer and long haul truck driver for various racing teams. He was able to see much of the United States and was especially fond of the Southwestern drives through Texas. Gerry felt fortunate to also spend many wonderful years caring for the horses of his best friend, the late Honorable Judge John Roberts (Dahlonega, GA).

Gerry is survived by his beloved children; Kim Sherman (England), Angella Lane (England), Gail Newell (England), Allison Burns (England), and Peter Burns (Finland), his five grandchildren, his brother, Philip H. Burns, and his sister, Agnes Higginson. In addition to his family, he was loved and will be deeply missed by many dear friends, near and far.

Gerry's desire was to return to his childhood home, in Ireland, as his final resting place.
