Gene "Sonny" Raymond Phillips Obituary (1935

Mr. Gene (Sonny) Raymond Phillips, of Cumming, GA, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on August 29, 2020. He was born November 25, 1935 to John E. Phillips and Sara Ruth Wallace in Sipsey, AL. He married Jo Alice Hawkins on August 30, 1957. Gene is survived by his wife Jo Alice, son Gene Raymond Phillips Jr, granddaughter Melody King and her husband Joe King, grandson Desmond Phillips, great grandson Kenneth (Kent) Lyerly IV, great grandson Dylan Lyerly, great grandson Reid Lyerly, sister Annette Tubbs, and many nieces and nephews he held dear to his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John E Phillips Jr, and sister Erah Gay Hawkins. Gene was retired from Great Dane Trailers, in Atlanta, GA. He and his wife moved from Orange Beach, Alabama, where they moved after retirement, to Cumming, Georgia in 2017 to be closer to their grandchildren and great grandsons.
