Cumming, Georgia
With deep sadness, we announce the death of Frederick Stanton Bolen on September 13, 2017 at his home in Cumming, GA. An avid lover of fishing - he was happiest whenever he could be on the water- from catfishing in the local ponds to trolling for salmon off Orcas Island in the Puget Sound. A native Georgian, with his family he moved to Oregon and lived there for 20 years. When moving he couldn't bear to leave behind his lifetime collection of Field and Stream magazines so had them shipped all the way across the country and put them all out in the new house.
Born in Atlanta, he graduated from Marist high school in 1954 and the University of Georgia in 1961 with a degree in journalism. A member of Chi Phi fraternity in college he enjoyed rooting for his beloved bulldogs with his brothers there. He later went on to get his CPA certificate and worked most of his professional life in the financial management of hospitals.
Stan is survived by his wife Catherine Bolen, three children Mell Bolen, Laura Skinner and Richard Bolen. Also by his son-in-law Mark Skinner and six grandchildren: Alexandria, Samantha and Madelienne Skinner and Sarah, Carl and Emily Bolen. In lieu of flowers, please donate to CASA of Forsyth County in his memory. For donations, you may contact Paula Malmfeldt at [email protected] or 770-886-2800 x3130.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the McDonald and Son Chapel. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until service time.
