In Loving Memory of Fredrick Ray Headley

Fredrick Ray Headley died peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 25, 1938, in Kirby, Pennsylvania, he is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Myra Headley; his children, Kirk F. Headley and wife Brenda, Lisa Suzanne Headley, and Brian J. Headley, all of Lafayette, Louisiana; his step-daughter, Stephanie R. Eckert of Dawsonville, Georgia; his step-son, James Graham Ramsay III and partner Jill Curtis of John’s Creek, Georgia; his grandchildren, Hayden Fredrick Headley and wife Hannah of Longmont, Colorado; Heath Evan Headley and wife Eva of Lafayette, Louisiana; Taylor-Gray Kline and husband Alex of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; Emma Christine Headley and Layla Caroline Headley of Lafayette, Louisiana; his great-grandchildren, Arthur Franklin Headley and Adele Annick Headley of Lafayette, Louisiana; Patrick Kline of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; as well as numerous dear nephews and nieces.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Frank R. Headley and Lela Clark Headley; his sister, Darlene Headley Page; and his adored first wife of 30 years, Barbara Christine Headley.

Fred graduated from the University of West Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. He was a member of the Lambda Chi fraternity and played as a drummer in the WVU Mountaineer Marching Band. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served for five years stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Upon leaving the service, Fred entered the banking world, taking him to Virginia, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Georgia, where he excelled as an Executive Vice President. After 30 years of banking, he transitioned into real estate, working with Buckhead Brokers and Jenny Pruitt.

Fred’s faith, family, and friends were of the utmost importance to him. He was an amazing storyteller who always proudly shared important and joyful family moments within his circle. He was a member of several Methodist churches throughout his life journey, serving as an usher and participating in Sunday school, where he made many lifelong friends. Hailing from the North, Fred truly became the quintessential Southern Gentleman. He genuinely enjoyed quality time with those he loved.

Personally, Fred led a very active life. He was an avid tennis player for many years, playing competitively in USTA and ALTA leagues. In addition, he loved Cajun food, traveling, golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and chess. Saturdays in the fall were always filled with football, and he enthusiastically cheered for West Virginia University, LSU, Alabama, UNC, and, of course, Georgia. Professionally and athletically, he remained a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pirates.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from twelve thirty to one forty-five in the afternoon with a Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors to follow on Saturday November 7, 2026, at McDonald & Son Funeral Home 150 Sawnee Drive Cumming, Georgia 30040.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that gifts be directed to the St. Jude Hospital, stjude.org and Tunnels to Towers foundation, dogood.t2t.org
