Franklin Sexton

Franklin Eugene “Gene” Sexton of Cumming, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023. He peacefully entered his heavenly home with family at his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Nella Sexton; brother, Edwin Sexton, and sisters Annie Mae Pilgrim and Francis Sexton Burrus. Gene is also preceded by the mother of his children Lucille Martin Sexton and Mary Pruitt Sexton.

Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Betty Hansard Sexton; son’s Tony Curtis Sexton (wife Gina) and Jerome Scott Sexton, daughter’s Wanda Sexton Shaffer (husband Ron) and Michelle Sexton Stone (husband Kevin); grandchildren, Shanan Cook, Brandon Tatum, Thad Hulsey, Leslie Frank, Stephanie Kammerer, Shane Lively, Elisabeth Sexton, and Alyssa Habermann; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Gene dedicated his life to his family and the Lord. He and Betty went on many vacations and camping trips that spanned across 48 of our 50 states. His love for Betty was unmeasurable and wherever they were, you saw them holding hands guiding each other through their next adventure.

He is deeply missed, but we rejoice that he is with his Lord and at peace. Until we see him again, we treasure our memories with this precious man dearly.

A visitation will be held at McDonald and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 15th beginning from 5pm until 9pm and Thursday, November 16th beginning at 10am with a memorial service following at 1:00PM.
