Frank Kunkel

Frank Robert Kunkel Jr. passed away on May 7, 2026.

Frank Robert Kunkel Jr. was born on October 30, 1955, in Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Kunkel was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Dawsonville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Frank Robert Kunkel Sr. and Mary Thornton Kunkel. Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Cooper Kunkel. They met in third grade and were together until her passing in 2021. He is survived by his children, Carmen and Clay Cunningham; Christi and Shawn Harris; Frank Kunkel III; and Carly and Josh Elrod; and grandchildren Chandler Kunkel, Cydney Cunningham, McKenzie Kunkel, Conner Franklin, Carter Cunningham, Calee Kunkel, Kelsey Harris, and Zack Harris.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and supporting his children and grandchildren in all that they do. He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing golf. For many years, Frank worked as a jeweler, proudly following in his father’s footsteps and carrying on a family tradition built on craftsmanship and trust. Through his work, he became part of countless meaningful moments in people’s lives, helping celebrate engagements, marriages, anniversaries, and milestones that families would cherish forever. His work was more than a profession; it was part of the memories people carried with them for a lifetime.

He was a man with a strong presence, a sharp sense of humor, and a personality that could never be forgotten. Frank leaves behind not only a family who loved him deeply but also a lifetime of stories, laughter, and moments that will continue to be shared for generations to come.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home, from 12:00PM-2:00PM. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia, at 3:30PM.
