Frank Hardy Carter

Frank Hardy Carter of Buford, GA, passed away May 12, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Susan Carter; son, Daniel Carter (Michelle and June); son, John Carter (Jessica); brothers Mike Carter (Cindy) and David Carter (Irene), father-in-law John Barnes and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Frank was born May 20, 1947 in Gainesville, Georgia.

He was blessed to live all over the US as a young boy, but returned to the Atlanta area in 1957. He was a graduate of Avondale High School and the University of Georgia. Frank lived his life serving others in the US Army reserves for 35 years, as a police officer, and as a fire/insurance investigator. One of his greatest joys was serving the Lord as a Bible study teacher, an ESL teacher, and RA leader. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for 15 years, where he developed life long relationships with boys, now men, through outdoor adventures and learning life skills. He was devoted to his family (biological and chosen) and friends. He was a witty, generous, tenderhearted soul whom we will miss so much, but rejoice that he is no longer suffering and is with the Lord.

The family will receive friends at McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA 30040 on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Frank's earthly remains were cremated and there will be a memorial service celebrating Frank's life, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Cumming, 1597 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, Georgia 30040, with Dr. Bob Jolly officiating. There will also be a visitation period from 9:30 a.m. until the service.
