Frances Theodosia Long Hildebrand, 95, was born May 29, 1922 in Eatonton, Georgia and passed away on May 1, 2018 at Cumming Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Hildebrand was born to William Evan Long and Lucy Bell Eskew Long and was the youngest of nine children. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Dosia graduated from high school in Eatonton and then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she met the love of her life, Billy Marshall Hildebrand, Sr. She loved to tell the story of seeing him for the first time at a church social where he was fishing. She thought he was the "best looking man" she had ever seen, and she knew then she would marry him. She and Bill were married in 1941 and remained a loving, devoted couple until his death in 1995.
Mrs. Hildebrand is survived by her four children: Billy (Judy) Hildebrand, Jr. of Monroe; Pat Gillian and David Pickering of Dawsonville; Jim (Donna) Hildebrand of Suwanee; and Nita (Charlie) Giddish of Suwanee. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Shawn (Scott) Richards of Loganville, Marty (Lindy) Hildebrand of Loganville, Heather (Jonathan) Long of Loganville, Tommy (Kelly) Gillian of Dawsonville, Robert Gillian of Atlanta, Susan Holbrook of Gainesville; Karen (Brian) Spinks of McDonough; Kelli Giddish and Larry Faulborn of New York, and Eli Giddish of Baltimore. She has nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by numerous family members including a host of nieces and nephews. Her church friends are numerous, and she leaves so many friends at the Cumming Health and Rehab Center. The center has been her home for three years, and she truly developed an extended family who loved her and cared for her.
Dosia Hildebrand was a strong and loving woman and truly the matriarch of the family. She loved her family, friends, and God. Whether you knew her as Dosia, Mom, Grandmama, or Maw Maw, you could not resist loving her kind nature, twinkling eyes, and beautiful smile.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 3rd from 4:00 until 7:00pm, Friday May 4th from 4:00 until 7:00pm and Saturday, May 5th from 9:00am until service time at 10:00am at the McDonald and Son Chapel. Burial will follow at Center Hill Baptist Church, 2:00pm, 6372 GA-20, Loganville 30052.
