With deep sadness, we share the news of the passing of our beloved son, Finley Scott Kruchten, who left us at the age of 17 due to complications from a pulmonary embolism. Finley was a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, teammate, boyfriend, and friend whose kindness and warmth illuminated the lives of those around him. He was a dedicated student with a passion for learning, known for his sharp wit, compassionate spirit, and unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand.
Finley found joy on the football field and in throwing shot put, where he not only inspired his teammates with his strength and determination but also holds Denmark High School’s shot put record of 51 feet 4 inches, and top 5 all-time in Forsyth County. He planned to continue his football career at Marist College, dreaming of contributing to the team and furthering his love for the sport. Beyond athletics, Finley had a wide range of interests—his love for solving Rubik's cubes showcased his problem-solving skills while building with Legos sparked his creativity. He enjoyed exploring the intricate worlds of anime and cherished moments spent with family, always bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
Finley was particularly known for his ability to engage with underclassmen, offering guidance and encouragement as they navigated their own journeys. His caring nature and genuine interest in others made him a beloved 6’4 figure among his peers, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
In his honor, we aim to raise awareness about Factor V Leiden, a genetic blood clotting disorder that often goes undetected, especially in young athletes. By sharing Finley’s story, we hope to educate others and potentially save lives. We take comfort in knowing that through organ donation, Finley’s legacy continues to bring hope and healing to those in need.
Finley is survived by his devoted family, who will carry his memory with immense love and pride. We will hold two celebrations of his life: one in Alpharetta, Georgia, on November 24, 2024, and another in Tampa, Florida, in December (date to be confirmed). In lieu of flowers, we invite those wishing to honor Finley to donate to FurKids and the Denmark High School Football program. Please continue to share Finley’s kindness and light through your everyday actions, ensuring that his legacy lives on through the love and compassion of others. Thank you for joining us in celebrating the beautiful life of our extraordinary son.
