Eunice Gilley

Eunice Medlin Gilley, age 91, of McDonough, Ga passed away on July 17, 2014. Ms. Gilley was a retired dietician, and a member of McDonough Church of Christ. She was born in Jasper, GA on December 20, 1922. Ms. Gilley was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchael and Maggie Medlin, eight brothers and sisters; husband Grady Gilley, daughter Paula Gilley Dorsey; son Tony Grady Gilley. She is survived by children: Danny Gilley of Atlanta, GA, Veronica Crockett of Newnan, GA, Jerry Gilley (Donna) of Traveler Rest, SC, Romelle Goldman (Brian) of Alpharetta, Ga, Cynthia Maner (Michael) of Morganton, GA, Craig Gilley of Jonesboro, GA, Hank Gilley (Sherry) of West Point, VA. She is survived by 19 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Eunice grew up on a large cotton farm with eight brothers and sisters, working in the cotton fields along side her family in Jasper, GA. She raised nine children while working full-time and building five houses with her husband, Grady Gilley. She also milked cows, gardened, canned, loved to cook, and made sure her family had all they needed. She leaves behind a huge family and network of friends that she enjoyed spending time. She enjoyed playing cards, especially canasta. She was very active up until the last few years, when her health declined. Ms. Gilley passed away in her sleep peacefully with the care of hospice staff and her daughter, Romelle, and her son in law Dr. Brian Goldman in attendance. Funeral services held at McDonald & Son Funeral Home and Crematory, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming Georgia 30040, Sunday July 20, 2:00 P.M. Viewing one hour before the service. Graveside service held at Piney Grove Church of Christ, 2610 Carlin Road, Jasper, GA.
