Emily Denese Abbott

Emily "Denese" Abbott, born December 5, 1954, passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 71.

Emily Denese Abbott was a true servant of the Lord, and she brought many people to know and love Jesus Christ. She was a loving wife to her husband, Darrell Quinn Abbott. She loved her two children, Shannon Michelle Rowlette and John David Edmondson Jr and his wife Stephanie Edmondson along with her stepchildren Matthew, Justin and Ryan Abbott. Her grandchildren, Kitt and his wife Augusta, Payton, Noah and Reagan brought her so much joy as did her great grandson’s, Jace & Cayde.

Her siblings, Benda Delk, Pamela Hamalainen, Ruth Olson, John Anthony Morris and Betty Jo O’Bryant were blessed to call her their sister. She was the best aunt to her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She led a beautiful life. She worked for the fire department with Gwinnett and Forsyth, became a 911 operator while she was pursuing her nursing degree. She worked for the ER after for many years. She led a full life of love, honor, grace and gratitude. Anyone that knew her saw the light shine bright in her.

She is joined by her mother, Mary Cecil Epps, sister Brenda Delk and niece Jennifer Lynn in Heaven. She has stored many treasures in Heaven by leading the lost to the Lord. Her faith in Him never faltered throughout all of her health issues. He was her strength and salvation. Her testimony will live on as we share our precious memories of all the lives she touched.

As in the words of Paul, “I have fought a good fight. I have finished the race. I kept my faith”. Oh, much beloved Emily Denese Abbott, your work on earth is done.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 17th, 2026, from 11:00AM-1:00PM, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. The service will take place at 1:00PM, in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
