Dawsonville, Georgia
Elwyn Tapp was born on May 19, 1954, in Colquitt County. He was the middle child of Roy and Cassie Tapp. He made his heavenly homecoming on July 13, 2026, at the age of 72.
He spent his working life in a variety of trades and devoted 20 years to EPS, where he retired in 2020. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter and served his country in the U.S. National Guard. He worked hard so he could enjoy a simple, slower pace of life. He loved camping and fishing in any stream he could find.
Elwyn was a devoted husband to Nell Ann Tapp for 42 years. More than anything, Elwyn would want to be remembered as a father and grandfather. He loved his daughters fiercely. He ruled with a stern voice, but underneath that stoic outer layer was a living teddy bear. He was a rock for his girls and was always the person they could count on to show up for them, no matter what. His quiet strength helped guide his family through unimaginable loss.
The joy of his life was becoming a grandpa and a great-grandpa. When Chase came along, he finally got to experience what it felt like not to be outnumbered. That quickly changed when Cayson came along. Then came Kylie, and for a time, he got to share in all the joys of fatherhood again through her.
Elwyn was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Cassie Tapp; his brothers, Wayne and Don Tapp; and his beloved daughter, Crista Turner.
Elwyn is survived by his brother, Vance Tapp, and sister-in-law, Susan Tapp; his wife, Nell Ann Tapp; and his daughter, Katie Singleton, and son-in-law, Kyle Singleton. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Chase and Ariel Turner, Cayson and Hank Bottoms, Kylie Curl, Kinley Singleton, Kennedy Singleton, and Kamryn Singleton, as well as his great-grandchildren, Remmington Turner, Lawson Turner, and the soon-to-arrive Lane Bottoms.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Reverends Rudy Tribble and Andy Wallace officiating.
