Alpharetta, Georgia
Elizabeth Adalisa Coyle, affectionately known as Bette, Liz, or “Saint Grammy,” passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, in Alpharetta, Georgia, at the age of 69. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend to so many, Elizabeth’s life was a testament to grace, faith, love, and unwavering kindness.
Born on August 12, 1956, in Washington, D.C., Elizabeth was the daughter of Jean and Edgar Cosimi. She grew up surrounded by family, faith, and laughter, which would become the foundation for the beautiful legacy she built. On August 2, 1980, she married the love of her life, Jonathan Coyle, at Falls Church Presbyterian Church. Together, they shared decades of devotion, laughter, and faith before Jonathan’s passing—a marriage that their family still holds as a model of true love and partnership.
Elizabeth’s faith was the core of her being. A devout Christian, she sustained herself on the Word of the Lord and walked bravely by faith through every season of life. Her external positivity radiated from a deeply peaceful spirit. To her two daughters, Hannah Saporsky and Kristin Coyle, she was both mother and anchor—the gentle soul who became a lion when it came to protecting her family. Her love softened the blows of the world and reminded her loved ones to live life with an eternal perspective.
To her grandchildren, Adalisa Kate and James Morgan Saporsky, she was simply “Saint Grammy”—the maker of magic, the keeper of traditions, the heart of every celebration. From first haircuts and pediatrician visits to Build-A-Bear adventures, Elizabeth painted the ordinary days with extraordinary love. Holidays bloomed under her care, always threaded with her favorite color, yellow—a color, like her, filled with light and warmth.
Elizabeth also brought this same light into her work at Northside Hospital, where she was lovingly known by colleagues as “Momma Liz.” She nurtured not just her patients, but everyone around her, offering comfort, wisdom, and humor in equal measure. She was the glue that held together those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Elizabeth’s passions filled her days with beauty and meaning. She loved gardening, tending to flowers that mirrored her nurturing heart, and found joy in watching Hallmark movies and celebrating Christmas. She poured herself into her family, her faith, and her church community, always giving more than she took.
Elizabeth is survived by her beloved daughters, Hannah Saporsky, her son-in-law Dave Saporsky, and Kristin Coyle; her adored grandchildren, Adalisa Kate and James Morgan; and her loving sisters, Maria Ater, Vikki Wise, and Patricia Cosimi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jonathan, and her parents, Jean and Edgar Cosimi.
A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held on Saturday, October 18th, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
As her family carries her memory forward, they hold close the words of her favorite poem by E.E. Cummings that capture her essence and their enduring bond:
” I carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart).”
