Eleanor Lynn Moore
Eleanor "Lynn" Walker Moore, age 91, of Atlanta. GA, closed her eyes here on earth and opened her eyes in heaven meeting her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on March 2, 2024 while surrounded by family and loving care partners at Oaks at Hampton. She was born on May 8, 1932, in Spartanburg, SC, and was the only child of the late Jerome Earnest and Ruth Wilkins Walker.
Lynn lived a full and amazing life as a devoted wife for 53 years to her beloved late husband, Jim, a loving mother to her children Pamela Moore Roe and James Russell Moore, Jr, and a cherished Nana to her grandchildren Alex, Natalie, Kyle, Savannah, Garrett, and Griffin. She was deeply loved by all who knew her for her beautiful smile, sarcastic twinkle in her eye, quick sense of humor, inquisitive mind and fierce love for her family. Lynn's generosity and unconditional love touched the lives of many.
A faithful member of Clairmont Presbyterian Church for many years and later Clairmont Baptist, Lynn and her husband, James Russell “Jim” Moore, exemplified faith and love, nurturing a legacy of faith with their children and grandchildren. Lynn had a passion for gardening, especially hydrangeas and roses, and enjoyed celebrating Christmas by beautifully decorating her home and making delicious holiday dinners. She was known for her cheese straws, cornbread dressing, and pound cake. She loved animals especially dogs, cats and even a pet bird years ago.
In her earlier years, Lynn graduated with BS Education from Winthrop University and taught elementary school for several years before dedicating her time to being a mother and homemaker. Lynn's hobbies included gardening, participating in women's church circle activities, flowers, playing bridge, sewing, cooking and above all she was an extraordinary mom.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 2 pm at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Hwy Tucker, GA 30084.
