Dahlonega, Georgia
With a heart full of compassion and a personality that could light up a room, Elaine Kneece danced her way into the hearts of everyone who knew her. Elaine, known affectionately as "Granny", "Mom", and "Best Bud", was born on the 18th of September, 1946, in Jacksonville, FL. She grew up in Aiken, SC. As a single mom Elaine worked very hard to provide for herself and her daughter whom she loved more than life itself. She held numerous jobs over the years. She worked as a telephone operator, flower shop employee, sold cemetery plots, was a Fire Equipment Operator at the Savannah River Site, and eventually became a small business owner who ran a shuttle and courier service in Florence, SC. Elaine was even recognized with the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce Courteous Service Award.
Elaine's love for her family and the Georgia Bulldogs knew no bounds. She was a master at laughing, singing "off key", and dancing - all of which she did often. Her hobbies also included watching her beloved Bulldogs, collecting Elvis memorabilia, and enjoying the melodies of ABBA's Mama Mia, Celine Dion, Cher, Elvis and Mariah Carey to name a few. Elaine's loving nature extended to the staff at Dahlonega Assisted Living, whom she cherished dearly and they in turn cared for her deeply and showered her with love.
Elaine attended St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Dahlonega GA. Elaine is survived by her daughter Charlene(John) Leyba of Dahlonega, GA along with eight grandchildren that she loved to tell everyone God blessed her with. John David, Joshua, Claire Elaine, Anna(Zach) Edwards, Joseph, Jude, Seraphia and Charlie. She also has two great-grandsons, Caiden and Cal Edwards. Sisters Anita Hudnell, Norma(Mona) Melcolm, Louise(Wayne)West, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and even some great great nieces and great great nephews.
