Edward Robert Colombo

Edward R. Colombo, 89, of Cumming, GA, passed away Aug. 23, 2010. Born Feb. 24, 1921, in Ridgewood, NJ, he was the son of the late Roy and Lena Colombo. He is also predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, June G. Colombo. He leaves behind two daughters: Elaine Colombo and June Ellen Colombo; granddaughter; Heather (Jeremy) Colombo Durkin; three great grandchildren; Alexis J. Durkin, Dustin W. Durkin and Mitchell G. Durkin. He was a decorated WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, and like his father, worked for the Erie Lackawana and Conrail Railroads as a conductor. He became an antique clock repairman and dealer in retirement. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of McDonald & Son Funeral Home at 11:30 AM on Thurs., Aug. 26, 2010. Pastor Ron Preuss will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 11:30 AM the day of the service. Interment will be held at the Woodstock Cemetery in NY, next to his beloved wife. Flowers are welcomed, or donations can be made in Mr. Colombo s name to the American Heart Association, to Cumming First United Methodist Church, or the Waldwick United Methodist Church.
