Edith Runyon Beckett

Edith was born to Gerald G. Runyon and Erma M. Shrader Runyon on January 27, 1930, in Huntington, WV. She was raised by her mother and her grandparents, Frederick and Lavalette Shrader of Huntington, WV. There she graduated from Huntington High School in June of 1948.

Edith grew up across the street from her best friend and the love of her life, Joe Beckett, until they were married on April 15, 1949. While in Charleston, WV, she was a member at Calvary Baptist Church. After a move to Johnstown, Pennsylvania, she joined Westmont Presbyterian Church. There she served as a Deacon. In 1984, the family moved to Roswell, Georgia, then relocated to Cumming and joined Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church.

Edith was very proud of her three children: Cinda Raines, Kim (Lois) Beckett and David Beckett. She also loved her grandchildren Matthew (Maki) Raines, Meredith (Shane) King, Janice Beckett and Neal (Courtney) Beckett. She was grateful for the chance to get to know her great-grandchildren, Taylor King, Collin King, Carson King, Jane Beckett and Bryce Beckett.

The service will be held at Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016. A reception will follow In the Kelso Room in Celebration Hall which is behind the church.
