Dorothy Muriel Lyon

Dorothy Muriel Walter Lyon, age 88, of Cumming, GA passed away on 11-26-2015 Thanksgiving Day. Mrs. Lyon grew up in Grand Forks, ND where she graduated from high school and attended Business College. She retired from the Buick Atlanta Zone office following 35 years of service. Preceded in her passing is her husband Stewart Lyon of 61 years, son Douglas Lyon and daughter in law Elaine W. Lyon, grandson Bradley Lyon wife Nicole, great granddaughter Blakely and great grandson Cohen and grandson Brandon Lyon wife Ashley, and great grandson Hudson. Mrs. Lyon was the Great granddaughter of Sondre Norheim, famous in Norway and known as the "Father of Modern Skiing". The Lillehammer Olympic Committee invited her as a guest of honor during the opening of the 1994 Olympic Torch Relay in Norway. Princess Martha Louise lighted the torch from the hearth of Sondre Norheim's preserved cottage. Mrs. Lyon was an avid traveler and had visited over 50 countries on five continents. The family also thanks Gracemont Assisted Living and Memory Care for the wonderful love and care the CNA's provided Mrs. Lyon. The viewing will be at McDonald and Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA 30040 tomorrow evening Nov. 27th, from 6PM to 7PM with a service to follow at the Chapel from 7PM to 7:30PM.
