Dorothy McCoy Hurst

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Dorothy McCoy Hurst of Big Canoe, Georgia, who passed away on November 7, 2022, at the age of 87.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Kendall Clark, and wife, Courtney, of Cumming, Karen Tekenbroek, and husband, Roland, of Marietta; grandchildren, Reid, Zachary, and Annabel Clark, and Erik and Anna Tekenbroek; brother, Jimmy McCoy; and her dear nephews, Randy, Ronald, and Craig McCoy.

Dot, as she was known, was born in Pitt County, North Carolina, on August 9th,1935, and attended East Carolina University where she received a BS in Business Education. Upon graduation, Dot began her career as a schoolteacher, followed by employment with AT&T, and finally settled into a successful 30+ year venture in selling real estate.

Dot was a wonderful cook, gracious hostess, and avid reader. She loved traveling and surrounding herself with friends and family. She also loved the simple pleasures in life and enjoyed nothing more than reading her Bible, watching the hummingbirds at her feeder, and admiring the seasonal views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from her rocking chair.

Dot will certainly be missed by all. Undoubtedly, she is now in Heaven with her Maker, enjoying glorious views, catching up with bygone family and friends, and smiling down upon us.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Church of Marble Hill, GA. on January 8th, 2023 at 2:00pm

In remembrance of Dot, donations to Trinity and/or flowers may be brought to the church.
