Dorothy Bearden

Dorothy “Dot” Lucille Ramey Bearden, 99 ½, took the hand of Jesus on Friday, November 10, 2023, with loved ones by her side. Dot was born on April 3, 1924, in Lyman, Washington to the late Virgil C. and Willie Grist Ramey.

In addition to her parents, Dot is preceded in death by her husband Henry “Nathan” Bearden, as well as her siblings: Claude Ramey, Carlyle Ramey, and Joyce Ramey Southard.

Dot is survived by her three loving sons and their wives: Duane Bearden (Janet), Dwight Bearden (Rhonda), and David Bearden (Connie), her brother Prince McLease “Mack” Ramey (Mary), eight grandchildren: Alexis Hill (Donny), Brett Bearden (Kerith), Garrett Bearden (Casey), Matthew Bearden, Leslie Moore (Hammond), Bethany Bearden, Stephen Bearden (Kylea), and Anna Bearden, and six great-grandchildren: Gavin Bearden, Zechariah “Zeke” Hill, Zoey Jayne Bearden, Sophie Kate Bearden, Braxton Moore, and Ava Grace Moore.

Dot’s first love was God and her church. She served in many capacities of the church at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Austell, GA. After moving to Cumming, GA in 1998, she has been a member of First Redeemer Church where she looked forward to hearing the choir, orchestra, and preaching each week.

Dot excelled in and was employed in various accounting positions over the years and retired in 1989 after 26 years in her budget analyst position at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, GA

Dot “never met a stranger”, and she touched many lives wherever she went, dined, and shopped. Her greatest desire is that everyone she loves will “meet me in heaven.”

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in the McDonald & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will take place on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
